Blue Hills Reservation (Milton, MA)
This is a great place to go hiking that is very near Boston.

Boston Harbor Islands (Boston, MA)
A fun day trip. Fort Warren on Gorges Island is a great first trip, fascinating to walk around and explore. Ferry service starts on May 6, 2006.

Ecotarium (Worcester, MA)
The Ecotarium is a nice change of pace from the Boston Science Museum. It has indoor exhibits, as well as hiking trails. The train ride is also fun, and worth the $2 fee.
